Baja Ha-Ha XXVI

A LOT OF FOLKS THINK THE BASEBALL SEASON
ENDS WITH THE WORLD SERIES.

Oh no, no, no!

It doesn't end until the end of the Cruisers versus Turtle Bay Kids game in Turtle Bay the second week in November. If the truth be told, Ha-Ha baseball is so much more fun than American professional baseball. It's fast paced, people of all genders and ages can play, nobody strikes out, and there are lots of laughs.

The Astroturf baseball field in Turtle Bay is the most
first-class thing in town. Unlike professional baseball,
those in the field don't have any compunction about
hanging out with each other for a bit.
As a pitcher, the Grand Poobah's specialty
is tossing balls that everyone can hit.
The normal 'on deck circles' is replaced with an 'on deck line'.
Sometimes we're even able to get the 'fans' to do the wave.

At the end of every game, lots of gear is
donated to the locals boys — and girls.
The youngest pick first. Last year a very
young girl passed on all the helmets
and bats and gloves and selected
a pair of socks and a pair of gloves.

If you're going to be sailing in the Ha-Ha, we hope you're gearing up for the baseball game. That would mean limbering up, working on your stroke, and finding equipment that can be left behind for the kids.
